Don't Eat Glue

I have been practicing some different styles of drawing environments lately. I would love to make more concept art at work, but right now it pretty much looks like something from 3rd grade art period! And unfortunately the glue isn't edible at work. Oh well, didn't stop me.

Anyhow, I started out with an isometric perspective and worked my way to something looser. I have trouble drawing loosely because I tend to define the structure of the subject, in a very rigid blueprint-like way.

However, I am often told it is better to focus on the structure of the composition itself and not worry about perspective. For me, it's a matter of finding the right balance that looks convincing enough, but also doesn't hamper the initial creative processes that define the style and moods. As a concept artist (or most artists for that matter), you are often hinting at detail, but refining only specific areas as highlights. But really, don't listen to me until I start making some decent paintings. ;)

I meant to comment on this earlier, I really like how you started these. They do have a much better and lively feeling like you said. I like 'em man.
I hate environments, you did these studies great!
